Mrs. Tupper and Mr. Smith said they also want to get involved in some vocational exploratory classes for the two older grades.

Mrs. Tupper said she wants to give teachers recognition and to relieve them of some tasks that “may not have much impact.” She said she hopes to provide more opportunities for students to perform.

Mr. Smith said. “There are few principals who feel the way Rave does, who can be as ego free. I’m grateful to her and appreciate the opportunity to have that type of freedom.”

On discipline, Mr. Smith said, “It is important to be pro-active rather than reactive, to reward appropriate behavior and prevent inappropriate behavior, rather than reacting to inappropriate behavior.”

He said, “This situation almost guarantees success. We have great kids, great parents and great teachers.”

Mrs. Tupper said they are also very fortunate to have a community that supports education, from volunteers who work with students to taxpayers who are willing to pay for it.
