Rappahannock County High School looked like the target of a SWAT attack last Thursday. A visitor arriving at 1:45 p.m. saw Sheriffs deputies and state troopers surrounding the school. Approaching a deputy standing guard at a side entrance, she asked, “What’s going on?”
“You’ll have to ask Sheriff Settle,” the deputy replied tersely.
She dashed to the front door, suddenly worried that her teenager might be in some kind of danger. At the front door, secretary Dianne Pendleton waved her into the main office. “You’ll have to wait in here, with the door shut, until it’s over,” she said.
“What’s over?”
“The drug search.”
