Some recent letters to the editor have commented on the county public school system, with references to Goals 2000, student achievement, and standardized tests.
I repeat the Goals 2000 below, with one substitution.
By the Year 2000:
• All children in Rappahannock County will start school ready to learn.
• The Rappahannock County high school graduation rate will be at least 90 percent.
• All students in Rappahannock County will leave grades 4, 8 and 12 having demonstrated competency over challenging subject matter in core academic subject
