Larry is the son of Graham and Dorothy Hackley. He is a graduate of Rappahannock County High School. He received his B.A. degree from Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. and his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY.
Before pursuing Folk Art Larry taught art in the public school system in Burbon County Kentucky and at Kentucky State University.
