It should in the larger picture be fairly pointed out that throughout his public career in the military and in civilian service, this same man has been a constant and now respected Virginian and voice for its people — for jobs, for our way of life and for national security. On taxes, on the federal budget, crime, highways, agriculture, the interests of government workers and qn high tech and small business, this 69-year-old now ranking member of the U.S. Senate has well served the interests of Virginia.* ; During his time in the Senate, Warner has cast more than 7,000 votes, and that mathematically generates a lot of disagreement with anyone in political life. But to have his Republican opponent chaffing over only about a dozen of these votes? Not bad. • Virginians will have a chance to voice their opinion next Tuesday, June 11, when the Republican Party holds its primary. Voters here should use this as an opportunity to send a message — character and performance still count today. John Warner, a credit to this community and to the people of Virginia, is the solid and easy choice. He has earned it by a career test under live ammunition.
