Overall, 21 percent of Rappahannock’s registered voters turned out for Tuesday’s Republican primary to cast votes, choosing Sen. John Warner over Jim Miller by nearly 60 percent to 40 percent.
Mr. Miller ran better in Rappahannock than in the state as a whole where he trailed Sen. Warner 34 percent to 66 percent.
Two years ago, when Sen. Charles Robb was challenged in a Democratic party primary, only 10.9 percent of the county’s registered voters voted.
Mr. Warner carried - all voting precincts in the county except Chester
