John Updike
John B. Updike, 91, of Washington, died on Tuesday, June 4 at Culpeper Health Care Center. He was bom in Rappahannock County on Jan. 20, 1905, to the late John H. and Annie K. Updike.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Clara S. Updike and four sons, Glenn H. Updike of Newsomes, Randall S. Updike of Washington, Lyle M. Updike of Kearney, MO., and Francis Updike of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include nine grandchildren, Randall, Brain, Lee John, Kelly Lynn, Jennifer, Scott, Justin, Katie and Suzanne, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 7 at Found and Sons Chapel in Culpeper with the Rev. James Burke officiating. Interment followed in the Washington Masonic Cemetery, Washington.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
