Participants Needed

Individuals and organizations are invited to participate in the upcoming Fourth of July parade in the Town of Washington. Those interested should contact parade organizer Ellen Manson at 675-1349. Everyone is welcome to participate. Judges will determine the most “patriotically decorated” care and bicycle and the best float.

Mothering Coop To Meet

New Mothering Cooperative meets every third Wednesday of the month at the Rappahannock Park at 11:30 a.m. Bring children and a bagged lunch. A great way to meet other moms and share ideas! Call Brenda Van Ness at 987-9527. The next meeting will be Wednesday, June 19.

Tennis Lessons and Groups

Over the years in Rappahannock there has been a growing interest in tennis and to help coordinate instruction opportunities as well as possibly create playing groups and an occasional tournament or round-robin event, Hunt Harris asks for community members to call him at 675-1879 of 987-9061. Hunt will be offering instruction beginning in June.

Contestants Sought

The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department is looking for queen contestants for their carnival. Anyone interested may contact Connie HufFHarris at 675-3389.

RLEP Nature Camp Set

Places for young naturalists are still available at the Rappahannock Natural History Day Camp. Session I, June 24-28 for campers 10 and up. Session II, July 1-12 for ages 7-11. Camp site is in Sperry ville and hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call Robin Purnell at 675-1531 for a brochure and further information.

Hitt Family Dinner

Anyone interested in learning about the history of the Hitt family is invited to a dinner to be held Friday, July 19 at the Holiday Inn (Aberdeen Bam) in Culpeper. A private room is being reserved where those attending can order from the menu and pay individually.

Genealogists will gather at 5:30 p.m. to exchange information. A german dance will be demonstrated at 7 p.m. The meal will be at 7:30 p.m. A video will be shown after the meal.
