My maternal grandparents (Thaddeus Herndon Hudson, 18561930, and Mollie Hudson, nee Hawkins, 1863-1934), several aunts, uncles and cousins are buried there.
As a child visiting the cemetery with my parents, I was impressed with Charles Dear’s grave marker. To this day my mother lovingly remembers Mr. Dear talking to her mother when she and her sisters went to town shopping.
I have enclosed a donation; please forward to cemetery fund to assist in the maintenance of the cemetery. It is reassuring to know that the Washington Masonic Cemetery is well maintained, hopefully perpetually, especially when taking into consideration farm family cemeteries in disrepair and reverting to nature, as is the case with some of my ancestors buried in what is now Shenandoah National Park.
1 hope that others who have relatives and friends buried in this cemetery — or who someday may be buried there themselves — can assist with the planned improvements and maintenance of the cemetery.
