The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution are celebrating Constitution Week, September 17-23, with exhibits at the Museum of Culpeper History.
In addition to window displays, copies of handwritten documents and transcripts will be displayed. These will include Buell's Map of the United States of North America, 1784; a chronology of the making of the Constitution; Edmund Randolph’s presentation of the Virginia Plan; the first page of George Mason's speech on slavery; a broadside version of the Constitution; a gallery of portraits with contemporary comments; a draft of Benjamin Franklin's speech to the Federal Convention, and a proposal for the Bill of Rights.
An added feature will be documents related to the Revolutionary War which will include a colonist's letter to the East India Company explaining the motives for the Boston Tea Party; a map of the fighting at Bunker Hill, June 17th, 1775; a
