At the September meeting of Town Council last Wednesday, Treasurer Louise van Dort suggested the Town of Washington consider purchasing a generator to prevent problems such as occurred Sept. 7, the day after the storm, when there was almost no water pressure in the system.
Vice mayor Steve Critzer said hav,ing a generator is a "heck of a good jdea, but there are other things we need to do first." He suggested it might be possible to rent a generator on a temporary basis when power is lost. . Mr. Critzer said the problem . occurred when one phase of a three . phase line to the "Number 1" pump was /lost. Also the reservoir was only about -half full when that happened, he said, 'because a switch that controls differential pressure had failed. He said he received a call at 6 or 6:30 in the morning about the problem. There was power to the "Number 3" pump, that , was turned on and pressure was - restored by 11 a.m.
