notify the town when they are going to make such a heavy use of water so the level in the reservoir could be monitored. "There should be a fail-safe monitoring system," she said.
Mayor Stewart Willis said there was a further problem when a backhoe nearly cut the water line leading from the pump to the reservoir. He said that could have quickly drained the reservoir.
Town attorney Frank Reynolds suggested the line be marked with signs indicating a burried line.
Member Charlie Tompkins reported that the sewer committee had received eight responses to its request for proposals to plan for town sewer. They ranged in cost from $4,500 to $15,000. He said that the proposals would be passed among the committee members with a meeting scheduled Sept. 25 to select a firm to recommend to the council.
Updike Wins
Katie Updike of Washington captured the grand champion bull title at the 1996 State Fair of West Virginia Angus Show in Lewisburg, W.V. on Aug. 13. Her Skyway Hills Equator, the March 1995 son of Papa Equator 2928, first won junior champion bull to advance into the bull championship.
Katie also won reserve intermediate champion heifer with Skyway Hills Bando Lass.
