The Rappahannock Soccer League's 10th season has begun, and they are charging full speed ahead with capable, determined players and veteran coaches.
Approximately 150 youngsters ; enrolled in the RSL this fall. Planty of j new and familiar faces joined the league both as players and referees.'
The two U-12 teams, coaches Carl Letsen with a 3-0 record and John Bridgeman having success also, compete against Fauquier County house 1 teams.
Coach Ken Rogers U-14 team j with two wins and one tie is ready to. i take on Fauquier County again.
Coach Denise Hawkins U-10 team ' has three wins and no losses against Madison County teams and other RSL - teams. A new coach this year, Linda Torrence, is discovering success with her young U-10 team. She has a bonus, with two travel and RCHS JV player sons as part-time helpers (not a bad ; idea). Coach Rob Parrish says ;hi> ; team has demonstrated great team spirit coupled with competent skills thus far. Coach Mark Wallace is not- ■ complaining with his team winning two games with scores of 4-2 and 2-0.
Coach Tom Pendleton's U-8 team is more than happy with 2-1 and 4-0 ! scores against Madison and RSL teams.
The youngest RSL players of them all are the U-6. Oz Pace and Bonnie Lofton introduce these youngsters 10 the soccer basics* and they love it, especially with their very own numbered shirts. Ball handling skills and some - scrimmaging prepare these potential soccer stars for a future w ith the RSL..
