"Get the EDGE" was the theme of an assembly at the high school Friday during which the RCHS Scholars were presented with academic letters. 1 The Scholars program was started .three years ago by members of the fiigh school faculty as a way to provide more encouragement for students who do well academically. Besides the letter (or star if the letter was earned in a previous year) the students receive an ID card that entitles them to discounts, including a free meal at McDonalds every week of the school year. The teachers negotiated with area businesses for these discounts.
To be recognized as a Rappahannock Scholar a student must have earned no grade lower than a "B" last year and have missed no more than 15 days of school.
The Scholars in the Senior class are Marie Andreoni, Virginia Ankers, John Arnold, Angela Atkins, Adam Douffard, Carissa Dennis, Melissa Dodson, Nathan Flinchum, Nancie Gallegos, Tanya Lockhart, Anna Metcalfe, Melissa Pearl, Eve Proper, Michelle Switzer, Ashley Vandiver, Kylene Wolfe, and Katie Zindel.
