Birthday wishes go out to Ashton Kesner who finally reached the "double digit" age! Ashton is also to be congratulated for placing second in the Floyd T. Binns Spelling Bee competition which included the finalists from grades 4-6. Good luck in the county finals, Ashton!
Welcomed to the Amissvilie com.munity in January were Paul and Debra Norris and Paul's mother, Jean. The Norris' are the daughter and sonin-law of Charlie and Pat Sher (Lazy 5 Llama Ranch) and have moved next to them.
Paul teaches music to 6th to 8th grades in Arlington and Debra is a veterinary Surgical Technician in Springfield. They are expecting their first child in April.
Boyd Spellman is home after a successful surgery performed in Charlottesville. Boyd is employed with the Culpeper County School System and may be back to work in a month or so — if he listens to his doctor. Welcome home, Boyd!
Please remember in your prayers J.D. Moore of Manassas, my uncle. He had a stroke which has left him in critical condition in Prince William Hospital.
On Tuesday, Feb. 4, Captain Jeff Brown and Officer Leslie Williams spoke to the Trustees and Plant Committee at the Amissville United Methodist Church about fire prevention and security for churches in Rappahannock County. Many subjects were covered and questions answered concerning arson, theft, and lighting.
The church appreciated Captain Brown and Officer Williams for the information they shared and for taking the time to spend with us.

The Rappahannock Athletic Association will hold registration for the 1997 season at the Rappahannock Library from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for two additional Saturdays, Feb. 22 and March 1.
Registration will be held on these two remaining Saturdays. New players must bring a birth certificate in order to register. Returning players need only to verify the RAA records are correct. Each child should be present at the registration to try on the new
