very proud of that fact. I also knew from the many wonderfu} things I had heard from my family that she had a heart of gold. Yet I would never dream of making a wrong move in front of her. We maintained a very professional relationship at school. I would shyly smile when she walked by and she would wink at me. It was our little secret!

One of my most memorable moments happened one day when I was in the second grade and Daddy had to take me to school. He had come right off the farm with his dirty boots, frayed tweed cap and half chewed cigar. I definitely did not want this woman who I thought walked on water to see my disheveled father and I made that quite clear to him. Next thing I knew Mrs. Quaintance yelled "Dunny", flew out of her office, gave him a huge hug and a kiss in front of many eyewitnesses! You could have bought me for a nickel.

In later elementary years, I was active in the SCA and we would go and compete against Warren County in various events. Mrs. Quaintance would meet with us before each trip
