George Mason handed the Panther •basketball teams disappointing defeats [Friday evening that left the varsity in third place and having to play Mason again at George Mason Tuesday night .in the first round of the tournament.
For the JV, the loss meant that [Rappahannock, George Mason and •Brentsville all ended up with identical [4-win, 2-loss records. As a result of [winning an early tie breaker advantage, Rappahannock has a bye. George .Mason and Brentsville will meet at .Manassas Park Tuesday night to determine which gets to compete with .Rappahannock's JV Thursday night at .Stonewall Jackson for the JV Tournament trophy.
The losses to George Mason [Friday followed competition with [Brentsville Tuesday which saw the varsity losing while the JV won. . We did a super job playing great .defense. Coach Jason Gochenour said of the JV victory over Brentsville. •"Our objective was to keep the game [slow tempo and make the most of the opportunities we had on the offensive end of the court. During the first half we were very successful with this and took a 22-11 lead into the locker room. „• • • They couldn't get any gdod looks at the basket, and we were able to get the ball inside and get easy baskets."
