The aromas of baking bread and muffins from Chris Hogan’s Blue Ridge Bakery and Delicatessan are a delicious addition to the Town of Washington. Since the beginning of October his bakery has offered American and European pastries in the cozy atmosphere of Eileen Day’s basement (where the former Ox Box and Washington Deli were located). Hogan’s culinary philosophy is to bake everything with natural ingredients and to never use mixes or ingredients from cans. When the grocery stores had Key limes on sale, he made Key lime pies.
The bakery sells a variety of breads including French, six-grain, whole grain, onion rye, sundri tomato, calamata olive, parmesan and herb Foccicia. Responding to the market is essential to making the business successful, so Hogan also makes homemade soups and a selection of fresh salads and sandwiches.
