The Rappahannock County

Sheriff’s Office will be holding our second annual “Shop with a Deputy” program on Dec. 13 with some of the most needy children in our community. This program is patterned after the “Shop with a Cop” which several local jurisdictions have successfully implemented.

First let me explain about out commitment in taking a positive roll in our community. My staff and I are dedicated to helping Rappahannock citizens, young and old. With the holiday season upon us, it is our goal to make Christmas a very special time for children who may not be quite as fortunate as others. We recognize all children are special in their own unique way; however, the Sheriff’s Office is dedicated in providing assistance to those children who need extra support.

What is “Shop with a Deputy,” aka “Shop with a Cop”? It is a program to provide Christmas for those children who would be deprived of some holiday fun due to circumstances beyond the family’s control and which others take for granted. The Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with other county representatives, will select children whose families are in dire straits and have little or no funds to Christmas shop.
