Benefit banquet planned
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Christmas Banquet for the community on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 6-9 p.m. at the Washington Fire Hall. The menu include appetizers, salad, soup, comish game hen, green beans, glazed carrots, rolls, dessert, wine, soft drinks, coffee and tea. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children. Save $1 each ticket by calling 675-3615 for advance tickets.
Poinsettia sale underway
Beautiful, florist quality poinsettias are for sale to benefit the new garden at Trinity Church. Red, pink, or white, two, three and four branches. Prices range from $15 to $40. Order early for the best selection by calling the Trinity Church office at 675-3716. Pick-up and payment at the Town Hall on Friday, Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Boosters selling citrus fruit
The Rappahannock Band Boosters are currently taking citrus fruit orders. Call Sally Havstad at 987-9342 or Betty Thomas at 675-3293 to place your order, which must be turned in by Dec. 1.
Free health screenings set
The Rappahannock County Health Department will be offering free cholesterol screening sponsored by Fauquier Hospital, free blood pressure screening and free glucose screening on Friday, Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. There will also be additional health tips offered at the same time.
Healing Arts activities
This weeks activities at Rappahannock Healing Arts include Educative Counseling from 1 to 9 p.m. and Nutrition/Wholistic Health Counseling from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28. For information call 987-7204.
Tickets available
The Rappahannock County High .School Athletic Boosters would like their supporters to know that tickets are still available on the main fundraiser which is still in progress. The $20 raffle tickets are on sale and the prizes are first place $1,000; second place $750 and third place $250. Only 200 tickets are printed so, contact any booster member for yours.

Workshops offered
Stained Glass workshops are being offered. Create a Christmas ornament and learn beginning stained glass on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The cost is $40. Also two other beginning classes will be offered, Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon that will run for six weeks. The cost is $125. Rapidtran will not operate
Rapidtran will not operate on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, Nov. 26, 27 and 28 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Rapidtran is a program of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board.
Survey to be conducted
The Rappahannock Health Department in conjunction with the American Cancer Society and the Rappahannock Medical Center is conducting a survey of women interest in a mobile mammogram screening. For a copy of the survey or for more information call 675-3516.
