iNow tnat the leaves have swirled from the trees I can see the oriole nest that hangs from a black locust over Fodderstack Road. I travel that grand route to Washington, Va., often on my way to the library for research and knew the nest had to be close.
Day after summer day I saw the bird, like a flash of fire, fly across the road. The Baltimore Oriole is truly one of the most beautiful birds in North America; its plumage glows with orange, set off by jet black.
