Jesse Earl Pond Jr., 80, of Sperryville died on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
He was born in St. Louis, Mo. on Jan. 15, 1917.
He was a member of the Sperryville Veterans of Foreign War; a life member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association and a founding member of the Pearl Harbor History Associates.
His parents were the late Jesse Earl Pond Sr. and Susan Jackels Pond.
Survivors include his wife Edith A.M. Pond of Sperryville; two sons Jesse E. Pond III of Manassas and Mark G. Pond of Apache Junction, Ariz.; two daughters Katherine Spaid of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Laura Mattingly of Fairfax Station and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Susan Pond Carr. . Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at CloreGeest Funeral Home Chapel in Culpeper with Father Robert Lange officiating.
Interment was in Culpeper National Cemetery.
Ernest Hudson
Born in Nethers
Ernest Hudson, 69, of Culpeper died on Monday, Nov. 17 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 15, 1928 in Nethers to the late Festus and Mary Goodall Hudson. • He was a member of the Culpeper Baptist Church.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Gertrude Hudson; four children Lynne Richardson and her husband Dave of Culpeper, Page Timberlake and her husband Jimmy of Culpeper, Hope Chrisman and her husband Rich of Boyce and Drew Hudson and wife Risa of Bowie, Md.
Also surviving are six grandchildren; one brother Festus Hudson Jr. of Nethers and three sisters Catherine Stelock of Arlington, Ruth Irvin of Columbus, Ohio and Berta Yowell of Orange.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Letitia Ann Hudson and two brothers, Bevin Hudson and Otis Hudson.
Memorial services were held on Thursday, Nov.. 20 at Bethlehem United Methodist Rhcuhr in Nethers with the Rev. John S. Farrar officiating.
