Comprehensive Plan, its land use policy blueprint?
As if answering these concerns, Wakefield District’s representative, last to speak, did in fact reference that plan. Among his pointed remarks, Werner Krebser cited the plan’s description of Rappahannock County as unique in its natural beauty and order; as such, its citizens need not adopt the land use practices of our neighbors to the east.
In fact, the code of Virginia stipulates that Our Comprehensive Plan consider the county’s present and future needs and resources to promote the health, safety, morals, order, convenience, prosperity and general welfare of its citizens. It makes no provision for those living outside the county to come here and take free "advantage of its amenities.
In deference to my friend Greg. I admit to re-learning a lesson at this meeting — that one voice can make a difference.
In this instance, among all who spoke against project approval, there was but one who showed that the conclusion already lay within the county’s plan for addressing such problems. Thanks, Dr. Krebser, for the reminder.
