options reviewed
Dr. Gangel presented two options developed, at the Board’s request, to reconfigure a portion of the proposed high school addition so that some internal space could be recovered. The cost for the options were estimated at $53,000 and $28,000, and the Board discussed the advisability of considering additional construction expense. Member Bryant Lee noted that he had spoken to other school systems and was told that bids have been coming in higher than expected due to the strong economy, and he advised caution and suggested that no additional spending be contemplated. Member Rosa Crocker recommended, and the Board agreed, that the Superintendent investigate the cost of preparing a construction bid package that incorporates the larger option as an alternate, so that the real cost of the option could be evaluated.
