Trash Free Rappahannock ‘99 final week!
This is the final week for this year’s Trash Free Rappahannock (TFR) Program and we encourage every household to participate in some way, even if it means each person or family picking-up just one bag! We are barely going to catch last year’s effort of 1,500 bags as things are now, and that was over a four week period, not six, as this year’s has been! Let’s see if we can line the roadsides with orange bags and provide some financial help to Rappahannock’s many important community organizations. There is a big clean-up scheduled for Saturday, April 17 starting at 9 a.m. until whenever it gets done on Route 231, and volunteers are needed all day (contact John McCarthy at 675-3342 or Hunt Harris at 987-3366). Please remember to submit your bag counts by calling or e-mailing and also turning in a registration card for final verification!

Support appreciated I would like to acknowledge the efforts of the Rappahannock Elementary School on behalf of the Trash for Cash clean-up campaign. Saturday afternoon, VicePrincipal Mr. Richard Smith, nurse Mrs. Torrance, teachers Mrs. Payne and Mrs. Stanley aided by Mr. Stanley, picked up litter and supervised the efforts of students Melanie, Dustin, Jordan and Davey Torrance and Robbie HamillHuff.
They filled 16 bags in a couple hours, enhancing the natural beauty of Old Hollow! Not only did they have a beautiful day and a beautiful setting, but they had so much fun, one young man decided to stay and pick up trash instead of going to a birthday party!
