“I applied for a position as an assistant for production in the Women’s Product Development Division of the catalog in 1985. That’s where I really started product development.”
Brewer had a meteoric rise at L.L. Bean. She was a production assistant for two years, an assistant manager for two years, a manager for five. years and then a director for three years of all the men’s and women’s apparel in the catalog, 13 years total.
After all that work, Brewer said, “ I resigned froni L.L. Bean in May of 1998. I took the summer off. I took it easy. I did a lot of gardening. Spent time wi^h family, friends, my mother.

And then she met John Fellows in 1991. They have been together ever since.
