An open invitation

For the 38th consecutive year, Mr. William M. Carrigan is inviting everyone to the grounds of Avon Hall, Washington, for the Fourth of July fireworks. You are welcome to come early and bring a picnic.

Mr. Carrigan, who celebrated his 97th birthday on June 10, has stated he will make a special announcement during his brief remarks prior to the illumination.

Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Furr, Mr. Carrigan’s nephew and his wife, are coming from Hawaii for the festivities.

The Furrs were among Mr. Carrigan’s family who traveled with him to Rome for the beautification of Padre Pio, by Pope John Paul II on May 2. Mr. Carrigan first met Padre Pio during World War II and since then has been active in helping to bring about this event.
