COUNTY OF ITS INTENTION TO PROPOSE FOR PASSAGE AN ORDINANCE
IMPOSING A TAX ON FOOD AND BEVERAGES AND ON LODGING AND TO
CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING WITH
RESPECT THERETO
Notice is hereby given in accordance with §15.1-1427, §58.1-3833 and §58.1-3842 of the Code of Virginia, 1950 (as amended) that the Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County shall hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at the Courthouse in Washington, VA to consider for passage an Ordinance to enact a tax not to exceed 4% on food and beverages sold for human consumption and not to ekceed 2% on transient lodging. The ordinance provides that bed and breakfast establishments may impose a 4% tax on a bill which aggregates charges for food, beverages and lodging.
A copy of the ordinance is available for public inspection both at the County Administration Office and at the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court in Washington, VA from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
