Cray street wm De completely closed off for the event and vendors will line the street. Ellen Manson, President of RAAC, was available for commentary regarding Washington’s Fourth. “There are not as many (vendor) booths this year because everyone (Front Royal, Warrenton, Culpeper and Luray) is doing their own celebration. And the participation from crafts people is down,” says Ms. Manson.
She added “The new direction of the celebration will be the entertainment and the theme, and not so much trying to sell them something. We want to entertain them for the day. It used to be a flea market, in the mid-70s especially, and I said ‘No’. Now we screen them. There is a jury for the craft show. We get pictures and descriptions of their products. Charlie Tompkins, the Chair Person for the jury, is in charge of setting up the vendors.”
A stage for the entertainment will be erected across from the courthouse. People will be able to sit on the village green and listen to the music from noon until 9 p.m. This year, seven groups of musicians will participate. And the start will be a patriotic sing-along at noon.
