With this recent vote on the Fire Levy, the Board of Supervisors has taken a stand that may mean the demise of volunteer emergency services in the county. Without support, our fire/rescue departments are in jeopardy of closing their doors.

I wonder if Mr. Massie, Mr. Welch, and Mr. Anderson are fully aware of what it would cost to provide the same service with paid staff and county purchased equipment? I doubt it. It saddens me to think that the supervisors think so little of the volunteers who have worked so hard in this county for so many years. This is a vote of no confidence that could have dire consequences in the future.
