Simmons family reunion set

A Simmons family reunion hosted by Kim and Bruce Nelson and children, Katie and Steven of Amissville and Jim Wheaton of Woodbridge will be held July 2-4. They will be welcoming 24 family members from Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. The group is planning a night of polo, a day at Luray Caverns, Bealeton Air Show and ending with fireworks in Washington.

Ragged Mountain Resource Center in Sperryville is sponsoring the following activities or more information may be obtained about an event by calling the center at 987-3366.

Friday, July 3: The Band “Everything” (e:) will be playing at Wolf Trap with “Cowboy Mouth” . Show starts at 8 p.m. Call 987-9417 for information on tickets and bus from Rappahannock.

Saturday, July 10: “Second Saturday Hike Series” to trails in Shenandoah National Park (SNP) adjacent to headwaters of Rappahannock River Watershed tributaries. Meet at Mountainside Market on Rt. 211 west of Sperryville between 8-8:30 a.m. and carpool from there to trail head, returning mid-afternoon. Bring food for self and clothing according to weather of the day. Destination: Hazel River Trail / White Rocks Trail / Hazel Mt. Trail.

Art Camp planned

Young people ages 5-12 are invited to attend the fifth annual Art Camp with Laurie Marshall at the Rappahannock Recreation Center Aug. 2-6 from 9:30 a.m. to 12. The cost is $45, which includes most materials. Scholarships are available. Call 675-3267 to register by July 16.

Soccer registration underway

Rappahannock Soccer League is currently accepting fall registrations, ages 6-16 at a cost of $35 and $30 for additional siblings. After Aug. 1, a $10 late registration fee will be added. So don’t wait, do it now! Thee will be on-site registration July 24 from 9 to 12 in front of Rappahannock County Elementary School. For further information call Sara Lawrey at 675-1781 or pick up a form at the Rappahannock Library, and get it in the mail today!
