at the Fourth of July Flea Market being sponsored by the Rappahannock Recreation Association on the streets of Washington. Ian Pryde of Washington, Pat Biggs of Flint Hill and Jack Atkins of Amissville have completed a 40-hour instructors Emergency Medical Technician course at Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown. They were among the approximate 25 people in Virginia qualified to teach the courses. The Rappahannock Historical Society is undertaking restoration of a small historic building on Gay Street in Washington. The two-story brick building dates from the 18th century and is believed to be one of the earliest brick structures in the town. Members felt it was fitting that the society begin this endeavor in the 225th anniversary year of the survey by the youthful George Washington of this cpunty seat.

Wayne Blosser of Washington is the latest big winner in the Virginia State Lottery. Mr. Blosser bought an instant ticket at Hillsdale Grocery on June 21 that won him $10,000. That brings the total of large tickets sold by Hillsdale Grocery to $31,000, including two $10,000 winners, two $5,000 winners and one $1,000 ticket. All five winners were Rappahannock County residents. The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad celebrates its 20th anniversary with an open house last Saturday afternoon.
A new slate of officers for the Rappahannock County Garden Club was installed last Wednesday. Florence Nordone, The Shenandoah District President, inducted Mrs. Breezy Gannon is the new president; Dottie Hooff as vice president; Ellie Kreamer as treasurer and Mirian White as secretary for the next two years.
