MATERIAL
We should not minimize the fact that our hard work and technology have created material wealth that provides much comfort and quality to our lives. Any lasting fulfillment, however, comes from spiritual nourishment. And since an enhanced quality of life can free us to contemplate the universe and our place in it, the material is linked with the spiritual. This important component to living a full life was expressed in the words of Dorthy Thompson, who wrote: "People and societies who cannot see any purpose in their existence beyond the material and the tangible must live chartlessly, and must live in spiritual misery because they cannot overcome the greatest fact and mystery of life, next to birth, which is death."
