Officer award went to Rappahannock County’s Diane Moore. Mrs. Moore, who works in the department’s Front Royal office, is the second officer in three years from this district to win the top state award. There’s a new pastor in the pulpit at Washington Baptist Church. The Rev. Darrell Bare preached his first sermon last Sunday, assuming the pastorship which has been vacant since the Rev. Larry Hovis left last year. Rev. Bare and his family, wife Dawn and two children, Emily, 7 and Evan, 3 1/2 moved to Washington earlier this month. Of both the church and the community, Rev. Bare said, “it is a great mix of oldtimers and newcomers. And, there is a great energy that flows out of that mix.” The new member of the School Board - representing Stonewall-Hawthorne District will be John Tole of Woodville. At Monday’s public hearing on the appointment, only Dr. Tole and his wife; Judy were present. Robert Anderson, the supervisor representing the district,' nominated Dr. Tole. He will succeed ! William Oliver, who declined reappointment after serving seven years on the board.
