Mary Lillard

Born in Sperryville

Mary Frances Burke Lillard, 73, of Winchester died June 20 at University of Virginia * Hospital in Charlottesville.

Mrs. Lillard was born Nov. 17, 1926 in Sperryville, the daughter of the late John Ashby and Berta Hawkins Burke.

She was a member of local ACTWU Union and a member of New Bridge Baptist Church in Richmond. Mrs. Lillard was retired from Avtex Fibers after 43 years of service.

Mrs. Lillard is survived by her husband, Ernest Lillard; a son, Douglas Ernest Lillard of Front Royal; a daughter, Nancy Lillard Barr of Winchester and two granddaughters, Teri Barr and Ashley Barr.

Mrs. Lillard was predeceased by four brothers, Elton Burke, Lester Burke, Gilbert Burke and Marvin Burke.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, June 23 at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal with Rev. Jimmy Burke and Rev. John Burke, officiating. Interment followed in Sperryville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Larry Wheeler, Bill Harris, Keith Kinsey, Marshall Burke, Richard Burke and Buddy Lillard.

Carroll Wilson Costello, 82, of Banco died Tuesday, June 20 at his residence.

He was born Dec. 23, 1917 in Loudoun County to the late Jackson and Lula Emery Costello.
