If needed, the Lions also assist families in obtaining glasses for their children. What you may not know is that this organization also contributes funds for other programs for our children, such as the “Book Buddies” after school reading program and the DARE Program. We are grateful to the Rappahannock Lions Club for their faithful and generous support over the years.
Headwaters (Executive Director, Linda Tarry) is Rappahannock’s nonprofit public education foundation. Only in existence a few years, this organization has fully or partially funded a number of classroom and school divis on projects.
Members have conducted summer programs for the county’s youth and initiated specialized volunteer efforts, such as a mentor program called “Starfish”, to be featured in next week’s Panther Pause article! Through the efforts of Headwaters, the school division has been able to obtain grant monies from other sources.
