Celebrate
Have a safe Fourth as the nation
celebrates its 224th.
Next week, Rappahannock County will join the
rest of our nation in celebrating the 224th
anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
With the holiday upon us, the thoughts of everyone are riveted on enjoying it, whether at home with family, in the Town of Washington with neighbors, or taking to the road to be with distant relatives or friends.
We wish all our readers a happy and safe Fourth of July, but urge everyone to use caution and prudence in order to avoid happiness turning unexpectedly to tragedy. Every year, come July 5, the newspapers and broadcast media are filled with reports of deaths and injuries caused by careless handling of fireworks, mixing drinking and driving — or boating, and other mishaps.
So, we join the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Office, the Virginia State Police and the Rappahannock County Fire and Rescue Association in wishing the county’s residents a happy and safe Fourth of July holiday. All three organizations will be extremely satisfied to spend a quiet, uneventful holiday.
For our part, Happy Independence Day! The occasion is a joyous one!
