The Virginia Film Office recently issued a call for entries for the 10th annual Governor’s Screenwriting Competition.

This competition was created to provide screenwriters with an opportunity to present their scripts to professional members of the motion picture and television industry. It is open to Virginia residents only. . Submissions must be either be postmarked or delivered to the Virginia Film Office, 901 East Byrd St., Richmond, Va. 23219-4048, by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 7.

In order to be eligible, the screenplay must be for a full-length film and should be approximately 100-130 pages in length. The majority of the script must take place in Virginia or at locations which could reasonably be expected to be found in Virginia.

Three winners will be chosen by a panel of professionals and will each be presented with a cash prize of $1,000 at the Virginia Film Festival in Charlottesville Oct. 27-29.
