Oct. 12, 1950
Mr. and Mrs. John McClenghen of Alpine, Texas have purchased the farm known as the old "Witherow Place" from its present owner, Morgan Johnston. This farm has 353 acres, adjoining the farms of Wade H. Massie Jr., Jake Keyser, J.D. Jenney and Warren Miller. Mr. and Mrs. McClenghen have been living on a ranch at Alpine and they traveled over 1200 miles trying to locate a farm they liked and a place they would like to live. They will be at home this winter at "Spring House Farm," the home of Mr. and Mrs. D.B. Smith. With enrollment complete, the total number of pupils at Rappahannock High School stands at 233. The Rappahannock Garden Club will meet Oct. 13 at the Sandwich Shop in Sperryville and drive to Panorama. There a forest ranger will meet the club members to conduct a Nature Tour over part of Skyline Drive. Swiss Chalet on US 211 was advertising: now open for breakfast, lunch and supper and the fact that the dining room was available for private parties or banquets.
