Rappahannock 4-H Dairy Goat Club members, Adam Rhein, Austen Rhein and Ben Rupchis, recently competed at the State Fair of Virginia. With over 500 dairy goats competing in three separate American Dairy Goat Association Sanctioned Shows, the State Fair was a very challenging experience.
The Youth Dairy Goat Show on Friday, Sept. 22 was followed by an Open Senior Doe Show on Saturday then Showmanship and the Open Junior Doe Show on Sunday. The Youth Show was restricted to 4-H and FFA members but the Open Shows were filled with prominent dairy goat breeders from five states.
