other produce get smaller silently. Dry cereal, open the box and way down there is the product. There used to be a note on the outside that explained that it is sold by weight, not by volume. Some genius decided to put the note on the inside so you have opened it before being told a truth.
There used to be three sizes of eggs; small, medium and large. No longer do chickens lay small eggs, instead extra large eggs are laid. Ouch! (Even the chickens are cheating?)
The worst sinners are auto services. Especially those entrusted by the state to inspect autos yearly. The most common scam is to say you need something you do not need or charge for something you don't get. I was sold a tire that I did not need and when I asked to see the old one that was supposedly worn out they said that it was lost. The fault is mine for trusting them. New batteries are sold when all that is needed is the terminal tightened.
I often wonder if rationalization convinces them that everyone is doing it. "If I had not taken the old widow's money some dishonest criminal would have gotten it.
I sometimes feel that I have a neon sign over my head that says "This sucker trust every one, get him." Some merchants are honest and can be trusted. Others are charming friendly, helpful and honest. I have been taken a couple of times. I am a slow learner. I even think people will change.
I would like to hear from anyone who suffered the same treatment. Maybe something can be done by publicly exposing these abusers of trust.
