Joseph Winfield Thornhill, 65, of Culpeper died Friday, Nov. 24 at Culpeper Regional Hospital.
He was born Feb. 18, 1935 to the late Charles Henry Thornhill and Lucy Elizabeth Bailey Thornhill.
Mr. Thornhill was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 35 years of service. He was very active in 4-H, especially the Poultry Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Lavina Thornhill-Largen of Nags Head, N.C.; a son, William Charles "Bill": Thornhill of Culpeper; two brothers, Thomas Lindsey Thornhill and Charles Ashby Thornhill, both of Boston and a step-grandson, Kyle Christopher Eli Largen.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Ruth Feaganes Thornhill and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Thornhill Moran.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 27 at Found & Sons Chapel with Rev. Virgil
