Forum slated
Any resident interested in learning about the benefits and process of preserving our area’s historic properties should attend the Preservation Forum to be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 9 at the United Methodist Church on Lee Highway in Amissville.
Tbpics to be discussed will include: personal and community benefits of retaining ‘historic1’ properties, how to register properties - myth and fact, the economics of preservation - both for individuals and the region, ‘heritage tourism” - a low impact business for rural areas, and state programs and other sources for preservation assistance and support. Discussions anil include preservation "success” stories and how these models and tools might be applied to Rappahannock County’s own challenges.
Speakers include Mr. David Edwards from the Virginia Dept of Historic Resources, Mr. George Edwards from the Preservation Alliance of Virginia, and Mr. Rob Nieweg of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
All are welcome to attend and participate. There will be a question and answer period and an opportunity for informal discussions with the speakers. For more information check www.amissville.com web site. .
