Parishioners from St. Peter’s Catholic ~ Church and the Sperryville Assemblies of God Church packed the courtroom last 1 Wednesday evening as the Rappahannock Planning Commission recommended approval of their requests for special us<? permits to construct new churches. 1 The Assemblies of God Church is to be built on a two-acre parcel on U.S. 211 just west of the intersection with Route 622, the Gid, Brown Hollow Road. St. Peter’s Church is to built on a 25-acre parcel also on US 211, west of Washington. Attorney Douglas Baumgardner represented both applicants, noting that he is an Episcopalian. ‘
In a lead photograph kindergartners learn about fire engines and fire safety during a visit by members of the Washington ; Volunteer Fire Department, including Keith Jenkins, Ann Spieker and Randy Propst, a firefighter in Fairfax County. The children took a “show and tell” tour of the department’s tanker.
Winners in the Bland Music Contest hosted by the Rappahannock Lion’s Club included Bonnie Jewell, Jennifer Foster, Derek Daczewitz, Edna Shanks and Alice Reeve. Miss Jewell and Mr. Daczewitz will go on to state competition.
