“The new fences jumped well,” said Waterman of the varied obstacles. A stone wall, log pile, coop and standard timber fences dotted the new oval. “It was a little tight, but we weren’t going that fast.”
Four lady riders started in the 2 I/2-mile timber contest. Laurie McClary and Master Magoo set the early fractions, with former series champion Beth De Stanley, returning this season after taking two years off to have her first child, pressing her from second aboard Bird on a Swing.
