seed money to support intramural and other after-school activities. She said that a “multi-agency group” is working on a “Community Learning Center” grant proposal that would bring in some $250,000 in Federal funds to adapt existing school buildings for broader community use, and that $20,000 in local matching funds would be required if the proposal were accepted. If not, she said, the $20,000 would be used to fund an intramural coordinator and a summer activities supervisor to manage the use of school facilities on weekends and when school is out of session.
Phil Irwin spoke in support of the reappointment of Werner Krebser as Wakefield District representative to the Planning Commission. He said that Mr. Krebser “has an excellent track record” and is well enough thought of by his fellow Planning Commissioners to have bean reelected as Chairman. There is no reason, Mr. Irwin said, not to reappoint him.

• County Treasurer Frances Foster requested apd received approval for a supplemental appropriation of $5000 for a new copy machine and office furniture.
• The School Budget Public Hearing was scheduled for April 23 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium, and School Budget adoption for April 30 at the same time at the Courthouse.
• Mr. McCarthy noted that Rappahannock’s portion of the Chester Gap boundary adjustment has been completed, and that the contractor “emphasized that the highest degree of cooperation” was obtained from the people of Chester Gap.
• Mr. McCarthy reported on HB 2045 that required that Counties that cancel highway construction or improvement projects that are on VDOT 6 Year Plan will be liable for costs expended by VDOT before cancellation.
