Being a Purple Martin landlord does not come easy to most of us.
There are many dedicated people that have been reading, researching and trying for years to attract martins, then only catch a glimpse of a martin scout as it stops for rest on it’s way north. Then there are those among us that have no idea what a Purple Martin is, receive a martin house as a gift, stick it on a pole in the yard with no thought as to what martins prefer and have instant success.
So, with the right information and a little luck we all have a chance to host Purple Martins.
Pests and predators will need to be controlled at you martin site, so you will have to be able to get to the nests and clean them out occasionally. And, of course, there is always some general maintenance that will need to be done from time to time.
If you have to climb ladders or work with difficult housing, it will not be easy to do your maintenance, it will not be fun and you will not enjoy yourself.
