Queen contestants sought
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department is currently seeking queen contestants for their annual carnival to be held June 13-16. Interested girls should call Charlotte Tummeyer at 635-8278.
Fodderstack Race scheduled
The 23rd annual Fodderstack 10KM Classic race will be held on Saturday, April 21 beginning at 10 a.m. The event is organized by the Rappahannock Recreational Facilities Authority and sponsored by The Inn.
The race begins in Flint Hill on Route 522 at The Warehouse and ends at the courthouse in Washington, via the Fodderstack Road. Pre-registration is $18 by mail postmarked no later than April 14. There is also a family rate available, $15 per family member if preregistered together and by deadline. Post registration is $20, no later than 9:30 on the morning of the race.

Local businesses donating prizes this year include: Middleton Inn; Bienvenue Knoll; Flint Hill Public House; Country Cafe, 4&20 Blackbirds and Rae’s Placg and Deli.
Cancer forum planned
The Rappahannock Chapter of the American Cancer Society will sponsor a cancer forum on March 29 at 7 p.m. at the Washington Baptist Church.
Dr. Werner Krebser will speak on the cause, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. All are invited.
Representative to visit
Mrs. Donna Crowley, a representative of Congressman Frank Wolf will visit the town of Washington on Thursday, March 15. Mrs. Crowley will be at the Rappahannock County Extension Office from 2 to 3 p.m. Constituents who want to make direct contact with the Winchester office may call Mrs. Crowley at 667-0990 or visit the office at 110 North Cameron Street.
Emergency Committee to meet
The Rappahannock County Local Emergency Planning Committee will meet Friday, March 23 at 10 a.m. at the Rappahannock Courthouse. This meeting takes the place of that announced for Feb. 23 which was canceled.
All are reminded that information on emergency planning, material safety data sheets and the County Emergency Operations Plan are available at the Office of Emergency Management in the Magistrate’s Office, telephone 675-2315 or 675-3483. All interested citizens are invited to attend.
