and at earlier meetings led some to believe that 2002 would be a celebration-free Fourth of July year, and the Washington IbwTi Council and Mayor Willis agreed to invite representatives of the County’s non-profits and past vendors to one last meeting on the issue.
Though not too many of those representatives were in attendance at the meeting held on Jan. 17, the threat of a break with a long-standing tradition was apparently compelling enough to draw sufficient key volunteers from the community.
