Rappahannock schools * are “blooming” with creativi- l ty thanks to our innovative teachers and our adventurous students. If you were not able to attend parent conferences, please find another time to visit and get " involved.
• Volunteer Alert!!! I House Joint Resolution . No. 195 to designate Rappahannock County as the Volunteer Capital of Virginia was just referred to the Committee on Privileges and Elections. Thanks to the resolution passed by our ; Rappahannock Board of Supervisors last spring and to the efforts of Delegate Allen Louderback at the state level, this may actually become a reality. Stay tuned.
• The 6th-12th Grade Science Fair at RCES will run through Friday noon. The public is invited to visit until 8 p.m. on Thursday evening. The caliber of the projects gets better every year, and the inventiveness is always fun to observe. Please come out and support our budding scientists as they vie for an opportunity to compete at the Regional Fair.
• Many thanks to all of the hard working volunteers, who helped to set-up and decorate for the Science Fair. It’s such fun to be a part of event like this that impact our students so positively.
• A bus full of Seventh- . Twelfth Grade Band stu- * dents and their chaperones - left RCHS at 5:30 a.m. last Friday for Honors Band at Virginia Tech. This is such a wonderful opportunity, and our students are so fortunate . to have the chance to partici- * pate in this very inspira- • tional activity.
Many thanks to our very talented Band Director Lynne Fournier, and all of the members of the Band Boosters who work so hard to provide funds for these events. Thanks, too, to our very generous chaperones who volunteered to accompany students on this trip: Mrs. Fay Smoot, Mrs. Kathryn Treanor, and Mrs. Maryellen Nealon.
Word has it that the concerts on Sunday were one • thrill after another. One student last year, when asked why he liked to attend these event so much, said, “Because you feel like you are playing in a real band. Instead of just one of your . instrument, there are many. . It’s just awesome.”

• The Tri-County Band concert will be held at Liberty High School in Fauquier County on Saturday, Jan. 26. Students from Fauquier, Warren, and Rappahannock who have • never played together before - will practice all day Friday and Saturday in preparation for the concert on Saturday night. If you would like to attend this wonderful musical event, please call Band Director Lynne Fournier for details.
